A few weeks before graduation day, my friends and I got particularly addicted to this PlayStation 3 game called Rock Band 2. It's pretty popular among certain groups of people but for those who don't know, Rock Band is a musical game where up to four people can play instruments and be part of the band. In this game, you will be asked to hit musical notes depending on the instrument that you are playing. You can either play the drums, the lead guitar, the bass guitar, or be the vocalist. Back then, we would spend about 2 hours during the evening up to the wee hours of midnight just to play the instruments. Among them, the drums is my favorite because it brings out a lot of energy, making me wet the drum sticks with a lot of sweat. Now the game has just gotten better with the introduction of Rock Band 3. Among the main points for the next installment of the game is the keyboard (a new instrument) and the focus on making the game more realistic. For Rock Band 3, you can even use an adapter that shall allow you to use a regular musical instrument instead of those created by the game manufacturers. Mad Catz will now become the official provider of Rock Band 3 instruments, and you can only expect the best from them. The keyboard is wireless, while there's also a MIDI port that will allow you to use the keyboard even for non-game use. It has 25 keys and plays almost like a legit musical keyboard. Meanwhile, realism is also emphasized for the guitars, which now has actual strings and 17 frets, giving you an overall 102 buttons for the guitar alone. My only problem with this game is that it may be too complicated for those who don't know how to play the actual instrument. But oh well, I'm sure there will be pieces that can accommodate noobs like us.
